A. Mecky Company
1705 Allegheny Ave.
Philadelphia, PA U.S.A.

A. Mecky Company, Philadelphia, was well known for the "Velo-King" line of children's vehicles to include velocipedes, scooter cycles, scooters & tot bikes. In 1928 they patented "a new and better line of Walking Pull Toys" introducing Sambo designed after Farina of Our Gang. A. Mecky Company enlarged their Philadelphia plant to produce what was to be a line of walking toys. Sambo was to be the first model offered.

Other than the two toys included below, we could not find the Sambo pull toy line continuing. These toys will bring a higher value because they are greatly sought after by collectors of Black Americana.

A. Mecky toys came apart to fit into the box. A nut and bolt were included to attach the walking Sambo to the cart.
